The monthly USTA Player Development Player and Coach Honor Roll recognizes the top performing young Americans and their coaches each month.
Here’s a look at some of the most outstanding performances turned in by American tennis players ages 20 and younger in July:
Saud Alhogbani (Jan. 15, 2003), Alexandria, Va. – USTA Boys’ 12s National Clay Court singles champion and doubles finalist. He is coached by Frank Salazar.
Nicole Anderson (June 23, 1998), Camarillo, Calif. – Won the girls’ singles title at the Grade 5 Preveza Cup ITF junior event in Preveza, Greece, and then reached the singles final at the Grade 4 Corfu Cup in Corfu, Greece.
Amanda Anisimova (Aug. 31, 2001), Hallandale Beach, Fla. – Qualified and reached the semifinals at the Grade 4 Justine Henin Junior Cup in Limelette, Belgium. She is coached by her father, Konstantin.
Rachel Arbitman (Dec. 12, 2002), Hewlett, N.Y. – USTA Girls’ 12s National Clay Court doubles champion. She is coached by Erik Kortland.
Brooke Austin (Feb. 12, 1996), Indianapolis – Reached the semifinals of the $50,000 USTA Pro Circuit women’s tournament in Sacramento, Calif. She is coached by Jeff Smith.
Alafia Ayeni (Aug. 10, 1999), San Diego – Reached the singles semifinals at the Grade 4 ITF Jamaica Junior International and swept both the singles and doubles titles at the Grade 4 XXIV Copa Merengue in the Dominican Republic. He is coached by Brian Teacher.
Hailey Baptiste (Nov. 3, 2001), Takom Park, Md. – USTA Girls’ 14s National Clay Court singles finalist. She is coached by Frank Salazar.
Deiton Baughman (April 23, 1996), Carson, Calif. – Reached the singles semifinals at a $10,000 pro Futures event in Belgium, then won the doubles title at another $10,000 Futures in the Netherlands. He is coached by his father, Brad.
Chloe Beck (Aug. 30, 2001), Watkinsville, Ga. – USTA Girls’ 14s National Clay Court doubles champion. She is coached Craig Jones and Mike Beck.
Trent Bryde (Aug. 24, 1999), Suwanee, Ga. – Won a playoff to receive a qualifying wild card into the ATP 250 BB&T Atlanta Open and then won his first-round qualifying match. He is coached by Will Wright.
Hurricane Tyra Black (March 2, 2001), Boca Raton, Fla. – Reached the girls’ singles final at the Grade 4 Junkanoo Bowl in Nassau, Bahamas. She is coached by Sly and Gayal Black.
Tornado Alicia Black (May 12, 1998), Boca Raton, Fla. – Reached the girls’ singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon. She is coached by Sly and Gayal Black.
William Blumberg (Jan. 26, 1998), Greenwich, Conn. – Advanced to the boys’ singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon. He is coached by Dean Goldfine.
Jenny Brady (April 12, 1995), Boca Raton, Fla. – Reached the singles final and won the doubles title at the USTA Pro Circuit $25,000 women’s event in El Paso, Texas. She is coached by Stella Sampras and Rance Brown.
Jenson Brooksby (Oct. 26, 2000, Carmichael, Calif. – USTA Boys’ 14s National Clay Court singles finalist. He is coached by Joseph Gilbert.
Safiya Carrington (June 23, 2001), South Hadley, Mass. – Reached the girls’ singles final at the Tihta Aruba Grade 4 ITF junior event, then won the doubles title at the Grade 4 ITF Jamaica Junior International in Kingston. She is coached by her father, Lex.
Brian Cernoch (Sept. 9, 1999), North Bethesda, Md. – Reached the boys’ singles final at the Tihta Aruba Grade 4 ITF junior event. He is coached by Asaf Yamin.
Caleb Chakravarthi (Jan. 2, 1999), Irvine, Calif. – Reached the semifinals at the Grade 4 Canadian ITF World Ranking Event in Vancouver.
Alexa Corcoleotes (Oct. 13, 1998), Hillsborough, Calif. – Reached the girls’ singles semifinals at the Tihta Aruba Grade 4 ITF junior event. She is coached by Montique Javer and Tayler Davis.
Paris Corley (Jan. 3, 1998), Grants, New Mexico – Won the girls’ doubles title at the Grade 4 Canadian ITF World Ranking Event in Vancouver. She is coached by Joey Blake.
Samantha Crawford (Feb. 18, 1995), Atlanta – Reached the singles final at the $50,000 USTA Pro Circuit event in Lexington, Ky. She is coached by Michael Joyce.
Blake Croyder (April 5, 2000), Marietta, Ga. – USTA Boys’ 16s National Clay Court doubles champion. He is coached by Jerry Baskin.
Andie Daniell (Jan. 8, 1997), Douglasville, Ga. – Reached the singles final at the $10,000 USTA Pro Circuit tournament in Evansville, Ind. She is coached by Gery Groslimond.
Najah Dawson (Sept. 9, 2001), Sarasota, Fla. – Reached the singles semifinals at the Grade 4 ITF Jamaica Junior International. She is coached by her father, Larry.
Francesca Di Lorenzo (July 22, 1997), New Albany, Ohio – Won the singles title at the $10,000 USTA Pro Circuit event in Austin, Texas. She is coached by Ann Wunderlich.
Jared Donaldson (Oct. 9, 1996), Chepachet, R.I. – Won his first-round main-draw matches at ATP events in both Newport, R.I., and Atlanta, after qualifying. He is coached by Taylor Dent.
Sarah Dvorak (April 18, 1996), Kurtistown, Hawaii – Won the doubles title at the $10,000 USTA Pro Circuit event in Austin, Texas. She is coached by Todd Petty and Ric Mortera.
Salma Ewing (Aug. 28, 2000), Long Beach, Calif. – Qualified and reached the singles semifinals at the Grade 4 ITF Jamaica Junior International. She is coached by her mother, Reyana.
Katharine Fahey (Oct. 19, 1996), Fair Haven, N.J. – USTA Girls’ 18s National Clay Court doubles champion. She is coached by Catarina Linquist.
Andrew Fenty (March 8, 2000), Washington, D.C. – Won the singles title at the Tihta Aruba Grade 4 junior event, then reached the singles semifinals at the Junkanoo Bowl in the Bahamas. He is coached by Asaf Yamin.
Taylor Fritz (Oct. 28, 1997), Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. – Reached the boys’ singles semifinals at Wimbledon. He is coached by his father, Guy.
Bradley Frye (April 26, 2000), Overland Park, Kan. – USTA Boys’ 16s National Clay Court doubles champion. He is coached by Aaron Marchetti.
Michaela Gordon (July 26, 1999), Los Altos Hills, Calif. – Reached the girls’ singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon. She is coached by John Hubbell.
Alexa Graham (July 7, 1998), Garden City, N.Y. – Reached consecutive semifinals on the USTA Pro Circuit at $10,000 events in Evansville, Ind., and Austin, Texas. She is coached by Anna Beilen Zavska.
William Grant (Feb. 13, 2001), Santa Barbara, Calif. – USTA Boys’ 14s National Clay Court singles champion. He is coached by Thomas Brinkhoff and Juan Viloca.
Ellyse Hamlin (Nov. 9, 1996), Fairfield, Conn. – USTA Girls’ 18s National Clay Court singles and doubles champion. She is coached by Ryan Ginley.
Jordan Harris (Oct. 27, 2000), Harbor City, Calif. – Won the girls’ singles title and reached the doubles final at the Tihta Aruba Grade 4 ITF junior event.
Aleks Huryn (Sep. 3, 1998), Alpharetta, Ga. – USTA Boys’ 16s National Clay Court singles finalist. He is coached by Attila Azucki.
Garrett Johns (Dec. 17, 2000), Atlanta – USTA Boys’ 14s National Clay Court doubles champion. He is coached by Noel Wadawu.
Elvina Kalieva (July 27, 2003), Staten Island, N.Y. – USTA Girls’ 12s National Clay Court singles champion. She is coached by Konstantin Trofimovich and Carissa Sommerlad.
Vasil Kirkov (March 13, 1999), Tampa, Fla. – USTA Boys’ 18s National Clay Court doubles champion. He is coached by his father, Stoyan and Sylvain Guichard.
Evan Lee (July 29, 2003), Cos Cob, Conn. – USTA Boys’ 12s National Clay Court doubles champion. He is coached by Gilad Bloom.
Karl Lee (Nov. 3, 2002), Los Altos, Calif. – USTA Boys’ 12s National Clay Court singles finalist. He is coached by Michael Jessup.
Ann Li (June 26, 2000), Devon, Pa. – USTA Girls’ 16s National Clay Court doubles champion. She is coached by Jon Glover.
Jamie Loeb (March 8, 1995), Ossining, N.Y. – Won the singles title at the $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit women’s event in El Paso, Texas, then won the doubles title at the $50,000 tournament in Stockton, Calif. Loeb (pictured above) is coached by Brian Kalbas.
Robert Loeb (March 12, 1998), Hilton Head Island, S.C. – Won the boys’ doubles title at the Grade 4 ITF XXIV Copa Merengue junior event in the Dominican Republic.
Keenan Mayo (May 26, 2000), Roseville, Calif. – Reached the singles final at the Grade 5 Canadian Saville junior tournament in Edmonton. He is coached by Vahe Assadourian.
Kaitlyn McCarthy (Dec. 4, 1997), Fairfield, Conn. – USTA Girls’ 18s National Clay Court singles finalist. She is coached by Jake Lester.
Malkia Meguene (Aug. 8, 2000), Washington, D.C. – Reached the singles and doubles finals at the Grade 5 Canadian Saville junior tournament in Edmonton, then reached the singles semifinals at the Grade 4 Canadian World Ranking junior event the next week in Vancouver. She is coached by Bob Pass.
Sebastian Mermersky (April 9, 1999), Washington, D.C. – Reached the boys’ singles semifinals at the Tihta Aruba Grade 4 ITF junior event and the Grade 4 Junkanoo Bowl in the Bahamas. He is coached by Agathe Belebi.
Ally Miller-Krasilnikov (Sept. 21, 1997), Delray Beach, Fla. – Won the girls’ doubles title at the Tihta Aruba Grade 4 ITF junior event. She is coached by Sarah Stone.
Samantha Martinelli (Sept. 25, 1998), Denver – USTA Girls’ 16s National Clay Court singles champion. She is coached by Tim Blenkiron.
Michael Mmoh (Jan. 10, 1998), Bradenton, Fla. – On the pro circuit, won the singles title at the $15,000 Futures in Godfrey, Ill. On the junior circuit, he won the singles title at the Grade 1 Nike Junior International Roehampton. He is coached by Glenn Weiner.
Thomas Navarro (Sept. 17, 2002), Williamsville, N.Y. – USTA Boys’ 12s National Clay Court doubles champion.
Ingrid Neel (June 16, 1998), Rochester, Minn. – Advanced to the semifinals at the Grade 1 Nike Junior International Roehampton. She is coached by Margie Zesinger.
Alexa Noel (Sept. 6, 2002), Summit, N.J. – USTA Girls’ 14s National Clay Court singles champion. She is coached by Clay Bibbee.
Reilly Opelka (Aug. 28, 1997), Palm Coast, Fla. – Won the Wimbledon boys’ singles title and reached the boys’ doubles final; also reached the semifinals at the Grade 1 Nike Junior International Roehampton. He is coached by Diego Moyano.
Charlotte Owensby (March 16, 2003), Boca Raton, Fla. – USTA Girls’ 12s National Clay Court singles finalist and doubles champion. She is coached by her father, Charles.
Bernarda Pera (Dec. 3, 1994), North Haledon, N.J. – Reached the singles semifinals at the $25,000 pro circuit event in Torino, Italy, then won the singles title at another $25,000 event the next week, in Imola, Italy. She is coached by her father, Walter.
Kariann Pierre-Louis (Jan. 16, 1999), Miami – Swept the singles and doubles titles at both the Grade 4 Junkanoo Bowl in Nassau, Bahamas, and the Grade 4 Jamaica Junior International in Kingston. She is coached by Bill Adams.
Tommy Paul (May 17, 1997), Greenville, N.C. – Reached the boys’ singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon. He is coached by Diego Moyano.
